6. Lucifer

    •    Use eSword to search for the word ‘Lucifer’, using KJV+ as your Bible version.
If you need help using eSword refer to the eSword website tutorials.

    •    In the only verse where this word occurs, look at the meaning of the original word by hovering your mouse over the Strong’s number. Does this tell us anything about Lucifer?

    •    An important principle in Bible study is to consider any passage in its context. To do this, click on the reference: Isa 14:12, then close the search window. You’ll now be able to read the whole of the passage from the beginning of the chapter. You’ll find this easier if you switch to one of the other available translations without Strong’s numbers. (You could, of course, look it up in a printed Bible!)

    •    Comparing verse 4 with verse 12, what does this tell us about who Lucifer is?

The words ‘satan’ and ‘devil’ are often connected with ‘lucifer’. You might like to work through the “Bible Surprises” pages on these other words as well to see what you can find out (pages 4 & 5).
